The Middle School Program will be led by two Co-Coaches, returning Coach Nate Garwood and promoted from volunteer to Co-Head Coach, Chandra Ziegler. Both Garwood and Ziegler raced in middle and high school Nordic programs. Garwood helped start the NMU Nordic Club, and competed at the club level in college. Ziegler competed as a collegiate skier and established a cross-country running and skiing program in Crystal Falls. Her 16 years of coaching experience brings additional strength to the coaching roster.

Allison Carmody (Ski Cats Co-ordinator)

Allison Carmody (right, in bicycle helmet) looks forward to working with our youngest skiers and their parents as the new Ski Cats Coordinator. Carmody brings experience to the task after working as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Cycling Association, a branch of NICA, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association. Carmody organized 300 volunteers per weekend over 8 event weekends and is a level 3 coach for a local WI cycling team.

We’re thrilled and excited for this amazing group of coaches to lead the club through another great season of Nordic skiing…..
And hopefully better snow.

On a side note: several adults have expressed interest in adult casual skiing. Time to restart the Wednesday night relays? Who might want to organize? Anyone interested in leading a technique workshop(s) for adults? If so, please contact me at jeniferkilpela@yahoo.com

We’d love to advance skills to help people fly down the trail.
