Saturday morning the Michigan Nordic Skiing State Championship will resume with the first half of the Pursuit race – a 5k Classic (diagonal stride) race – which will determine the start order of the 5k Freestyle race in the afternoon.  The pursuit format means that racers line up for the second race in the order of their finishes in the first race.  If you pass another racer in the second race you are closer to an overall first place and if you are passed your overall standing falls. Middle school skiers will compete in a 3 km classic race midday, between the morning and afternoon pursuit races.
